The guidelines were developed for the City of Stone Mountain in 2004 through a grant from the Livable Centers Initiative program which is sponsored by the Atlanta Regional Commission.  The guidelines are to assist the local home owners, businesses, realtors, developers, contractors, city government and commission members with guidance in determining design solutions for the City of Stone Mountain.  The  guidelines also provide a base for preserving the historical properties both residential and commercial as well as new construction within the local district.
