Commission Established 

The Stone Mountain Historic Preservation Commission was created by the Mayor and City Council in 1996, and consists of a five (5) member board charged with the preservation of its historical resources through a design review process for the properties located within the local historic district.  The appointments are made by the Mayor and City Council and are open to all City of Stone Mountain residents. Term limits for each Commission member is three years.

 

Commission Purpose 

The purpose of the Stone Mountain Historic Preservation Commission is to protect the historical, cultural and aesthetic heritage of the City of Stone Mountain.  The preservation of this heritage is essential to the residents and visitor’s to the City of Stone Mountain. The Stone Mountain Historic Preservation Commission meets every month on the 2nd Wednesday at 6:30 pm at the Stone Mountain City Hall.  All Certificate of Appropriateness applications are due fourteen (14) days prior to the regularly scheduled meeting to be placed on that month’s agenda.  Applications can be obtained from Stone Mountain City Hall or downloaded here..
