Last year the City began a new event in the village, a 5K race, the Granite Grasshopper 5K, and a Wellness Walk. The Wellness Walk is a “short stroll” through the village that not only the youngest set but people of all ages and abilities can participate in and enjoy. While the 5K run is a more challenging event it also is open to everyone not just “runners". The proceeds from this event benefits our two local schools, Stone Mountain Elementary and Champion Theme Middle School. Last year we raised $1,450 for each school. The 5K run and Wellness Walk will be held on October 13, 2012 beginning with the Wellness Walk at 8:00 am followed by the 5K at 8:30 am. All registered by September 15 will receive a sweathirt (5K participants) or a long sleeve t-shirt (Wellness Walk participants). For an application click here.
